Created by Dali during his pop culture period, this piece is a colourful and experimental portrait. The work was used in the promotion of the 1960's Hollywood film, 'Fantastic Voyage'. Bringing together halftone imagery, pencil drawings and abstracted forms, Dali creates a dynamic and exciting composition. Divided in two halves, the pointillist face of Raquel Welch smiles over the right side of the artwork. To the left, a sprawling figure references the wounded scientist of the film. Sporting a Dalinian moustache, artistic license is used to portray the character in his iconic, hallucinogenic style.
