Tamara de Lempicka "Sleeping Girl" Certified Rare Limited Edition
8897 - Limited edition by Tamara de Lempicka (One of only 100 worldwide) titled "The Sleeping Girl" Accompanied with an authentication certificate which has been signed by the granddaughter of the late Tamara de Lempicka. Also on the certificate is the embossed authentication stamp from the Lempicka Estate New York. This superb limited edition has been certified by the Lempicka Estate (New York) and has been professionally framed in a bespoke hand made frame with detailed mount. Please note: This rare piece will be supplied with a replacement valuation for £3500 (free of charge) This painting was completed in 1930, which was at the height of Lempicka’s fame as a painter, and, at the same time, she was widely celebrated as a glamorous hostess and party-goer. The professional and social aspects of her life were inextricably intertwined; one was indispensable to the success of the other, and together enabled her to attain her own independent life-style, which was still a relatively rare achievement for a woman at that time. Women who were entering the arts following the First World War attracted a good deal of attention, and Lempicka proudly believed that she stood out among them. Few would disagree. She later wrote, "Among a hundred paintings, you could recognize mine. And the galleries began to put me in the best rooms, always in the center, because my painting attracted people. It was neat, it was finished" Lempicka’s intention to express sensuality is clearly seen in most of her work, this painting depicts a young woman motionless and silent as she sleeps with her perfect blonde curls and voluptuous red lips..
